The Morton Grove Public Library began as a volunteer organization 75 years ago, and volunteers are still a vital part of library operations, assisting library staff with a wide range of services. Below is an application form for adult volunteers; a separate from is available for teen volunteers.
Please note that volunteering at the library does not quailfy as mandated community service.
Adult Volunteers
Volunteeers assist the professional Library staff in a wide range of day-to-day operations, including both short-term projects as well as long-term, ongoing commitments; here are just a few of the possibilities for adult volunteers:
-
reading to young children
-
assisting with craft projects
-
helping patrons with reading programs
-
assisting the professional library staff with book processing
-
clerical assistance: duplicating flyers and handouts for library programs, assembling packets
-
tabulating surveys
-
serving as movie monitors
-
setting up special events and serving as host/hostess
-
delivering books to nursing home residents
To become an Adult Library Volunteer, pick up an application form at the Library's Reference Services Desk, or fill out the online form below. The library's program coordinator will contact you to set up an interview and discuss current openings.
