The Youth Services Department offers a range of computers and tablets available exclusively for use by children in preschool through sixth grade.
Early Literacy Computers
Two Early Literacy Stations are preloaded with fun games for preschoolers and elementary-aged children. These computers also provide limited internet access using the ELF browser, which allows children to safely access carefully chosen, highly engaging, free-use educational resources on the internet.
Internet Computers
Three Internet computers offer unrestricted access to the web for children through sixth grade. Children must be at least 8 years old, with a Parental Consent Form on file, to use these computers unattended. Children aged 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult or guardian at all times when using the Internet computers.
Homework Computer
One homework computer has access to Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel), along with the Library's online resources and Catalog. There is no maximum time limit on this computer, but it does not have access to the Internet or email.
iPads
Two iPads are loaded with librarian-selected apps. A wide variety of available apps are aimed at preschool children who are developing early literacy skills. iPads are not internet-enabled and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
