Mobile Apps

A mobile app is an application program that runs on smartphones,
 tablets and other mobile devices. Mobile apps are used for information 
retrieval, location services, banking, email, games, and more.
 Depending on the device, apps can be downloaded from the Apple App Store (iPhone, iPod, iPad) or Google Play (Android devices).

Library Resources

ReferenceUSA

ReferenceUSA provides access to U.S and Canadian businesses, and White Pages, New Businesses, Healthcare, Consumers, and New Homeowners online databases. Use it to find and research businesses by company name, location, or business type; conduct market research; find friends and relatives; look for detailed information on physicians, dentists, and more. Access_My_Library

AccessMyLibrary uses GPS to find libraries within a 10-mile radius of your location, then gives you free, unlimited access to their Gale online resources, such as American Decades, Business Plans Handbook, and others  — without the need to log in. More info hereAvailable for Android and Apple.

Reading Apps

goodreads Goodreads app lets you keep track of the books you've read and the ones you're planning to read. You can also use it to discuss and share recommendations with friends. Available for Android and Apple.

Google Play Books provides access to classic ebooks for free. Many others books are available for purchase.

nook

TeenBookFinderApp YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) Teen Book Finder is a free app to help teens, parents, librarians, educators, and anyone who loves young adult literature access to the past three years' of YALSA's awards and lists on their smartphone. Government Apps

The apps featured here were developed by government agencies. They provide easy access to official information and services from your mobile device. In addition, the U.S. National Library of Medicine's gallery of mobile apps features many health and wellness-related apps.

 
Ask-Karen
Ask Karen, a USDA app, provides 24/7 virtual assistance and tips on food safety, storage, labeling, and more. Explore a menu of most popular questions and answers or e-mail, chat with a live representative, or call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline directly from the app. Available for Android and Apple.
My-TSA
My TSA provides airport delay information updated in real time as well as information on the time required to get through airport security. Information about what can and cannot be brought onto an airplane and details about TSA’s new advanced imaging technology are readily available as well. A Civil Rights Complaints form can be submitted right from your mobile device. Available for Android and Apple.
USPS
USPS Mobile can be used to track packages, request to hold mail or schedule a pick up, check prices, and look up zip codes. The application can scan barcodes on shipping label receipts, making it easy to check the delivery status of a shipment. Available for Android and Apple.
get-human
Get Human provides the fastest way to get customer service by phone, chat, email, or even by having the company call you back; contains thousands of company phone numbers that are typically hard to find, as well as customer reviews. Available for Android and Apple.
NOLO
Nolo's English Law Dictionary contains nearly 4,000 legal terms defined in everyday, understandable language and is a great source of legal information for consumers and small businesses. Available for Apple.
