Library Cards

Your library card provides access to thousands of items and services for free. Contact the Check Out Desk at 847-929-5103 to get started. 


Bring a photo ID (or two forms of other ID) with your name and current Morton Grove address to the Check Out Desk to apply for a free library card, valid for 3 years. Residents aged birth to 18 need a parent or guardian’s signature.

Illinois Residents 

If you don’t live in Morton Grove but have a valid library card in good standing at your home library, you can register your card with us as a Reciprocal Borrower to check out items, use the computers, and book study rooms. Reciprocal borrowers can check out up to 25 items per card at a time.

Non-Resident Fee

Non-residents can still purchase a Non-Resident Fee card for up to 10 family members living at the same address, valid for 1 year. The cost of a Non-Resident Fee card is based on the Library's tax rate and is updated each year; for 2018, the cost is $380.16.

Non-Resident Property Owner

Non-residents who own property in Morton Grove are eligible for Non-Resident Property Owner cards, valid for 1 year. One family card will be issued per parcel of land. Applicants must show a photo ID and their most recent property tax receipt for the Morton Grove property.

Business Use 

Available to Morton Grove businesses. Complete the business library card application and return it to us with the required documentation. 

Homebound Patrons

Available to Morton Grove residents who are unable to visit the library due to age, illness, disability or other mobility difficulties. Apply for a Homebound card.

Institutional Use

Available to institutions that either house or provide residential care to Morton Grove residents. Requires a written request of the institution's principal officer on the institution’s letterhead.

School Use 

Available to eligible schools or preschools in Morton Grove. Issued at the written request of the school principal, director or school librarian on school letterhead, and must list the names of all teachers authorized to use the card.

Temporary Use

Temporary cards are available to adult patrons living in a motel, or temporarily living in Morton Grove. Bring a photo ID, proof of residency, and $25 refundable deposit. The card is valid for the duration of the patron’s stay in Morton Grove, up to 6 months, and limited to 3 checkouts at a time.

You can pay from home with a credit card or at the Check Out Desk with cash or credit.

Lost/Stolen Card

Call the Check Out Desk at 847-929-5103 to report a lost or stolen card. You are responsible for any items checked out with the card until we are notified.

Change of Address

If you move, please visit the Check Out Desk to update your address and contact information.
