The Digital Media Lab (DML) offers the space, equipment, and software for you to get creative with photo, video, music, and design. It also allows you to convert vinyl records, cassettes, and VHS tapes into CD, DVD, and digital formats.

Upcoming DML Workshops



  • To use the DML, sign up at the Info Desk or call 847-929-5101.
  • Reservations can be made in advance for 3-hour work sessions. Extended time is permitted if no one else is waiting. Total daily limit: 5 hours.
  • iMac will automatically shut down 5 minutes before library closing.
  • The equipment can be reserved up to 7 days in advance.


  • Open to MGPL cardholders and non-residents with registered cards.
  • Must be 13 and older; under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • No food or drinks are permitted.
  • Room capacity is 4 people at any time.
  • All projects must be saved on an external memory device.
  • Use of the DML is limited to digital media projects only.
  • Users are responsible for any damage or misuse of lab equipment.


  • When prompted for your ID number, use your library card number.
  • Printing costs 10 cents per page for B&W and color.
  • Your print jobs will be held in a queue. Go to the Computer Lab on the 2nd Floor to release them from the printing station.

Lab users must abide by MGPL Internet and Technology Policy, and all applicable laws, including the U.S. Copyright Law  (Title 17, U.S. Code)
