YA Book Club - Undefeated by Steve Sheinkin
Wednesday, November 28, 7:00 - 8:00pm


Jim Thorpe, regarded as the greatest all around athlete in the world by his legendary football coach, dominated sports in the early 1900's. Jim, a Native American, was subjected to intolerance and cultural indifference while driving himself and his school to great success on and off the field. Join us as we discuss this amazing story and Caudill Book Nominee. Every attendee will receive a free copy of the book. Registration is required.
 

Dungeons and Dragons 
Sunday, December 2, 1:30 - 4:30pm

Join us for our latest adventure as we travel into the uknown and quest together (or seperately) in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Roll the dice and venture into the unknown with your character, transverse dangerous situations and complete quests. Registration is required.

College Financial Aid Made Simple presented by ISAC
Thursday, December 6, 7:00 - 8:00pm

The Illinois Student Assistant Commission (ISAC) are experts on financial aid. Joins us for a presentation that covers college costs, types of financial aid, how to apply for financial aid (including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA), financial aid award packages and other important information. The financial presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. Bring your questions and take notes as we simplify the financial aid process. 

Teen Writing Club
Sunday, December 9, 2:00 - 3:00pm

Teen authors! Do you write stories? Poems? Bring your creative work to share with fellow writers and learn techniques that will help build yoru storytelling brainpower. We'll practice how to create characters and worlds, find our author voices, turn an idea into a story, and even talk about how writers get published. Registration is required.

New Game Wednesday - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo Switch)
Wednesday, December 12, 3:00 - 5:00pm

Gaming icons clash in the ultimate fighting game showdown. Play as Link, Mario or Samson as we play the famously entertaining game now in its 5th installment that features every character from its previous four games. Show up and practice before the big tournament on January 5. 

Final Study Night
Monday, December 17, 5:00 - 8:00pm

Join us at the library for Finals Study Night. All study rooms will be reserved for junior and high school students as well as the Baxter Auditorium for group study sessions. We'll have pizza, coffee and get out the Nintendo Switch to play some Super Smah Bros. Ultimate and relax.

 

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament
Saturday, January 5, 12:00pm - 3:00pm

Join us for our first ever Super Smash Bros. Tournament! We'll get out the Switch and have the ultimate tournament! At the end we'll crown a winner who will receive a $50 gift card of their choice. Play as your favorite character as you do battle with other iconic video game characters. Registration is required. 

New Game Wednesday - Soul Calibur VI
Wednesday, January 9, 3:00 - 5:00pm

Battle head to head in this dynamic figthter game that pits warriors in search of the Soul Swords against each other. The legendary game features 3-D battles as well as many other excellent upgrades.

ACT/ SAT Practice Test
Saturday, January 12, 10:00am - 2:00pm

Come take a free combination ACT/SAT practice test proctored by More Than Scores and Tests. The combination practice test will allow you to experience both the SAT and ACT to determine which test is a better fit for you. Bring a calculator, snack and a pencil. Registration is required.

ACT/ SAT Test Results Workshop
Saturday, January 19, 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Attend this workshop, presented by More Than Scores and Tests, to receive your test results from the ACT/SAT combination practice test as well as a detailed analysis of your test performance. Each student will leave the workshop with a strategy to prepare for future tests. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend.

YA Book Club - Piecing Me Together by Renee Watson
Wednesday, January 30, 7:00 - 8:00pm

This month we'll read and discuss the powerful book Piecing Me Together by Renee Watson. Jade knows she comes from a rough neighborhood, and she must leave to make something of herself. She rides the bus to a private school where she feels like an outcast amongst her peers but knows she must endure to succeed in the long term. Everybody who registers receives a free copy of the book. Registration is required.
