Fall-Winter 2025 Projects
In mid-October the Library will begin our next round of renovations and upgrades to the building:
- Multi-stall bathrooms to be completely gutted and remodeled.
- Removal and abatement of asbestos in the mastic previously used for installation of carpet tiles.
- New carpet installed in the east entrance near the Baxter Auditorium and up to the Info East Desk.
- New flooring installed on the east stairs down to the lower level.
- New carpet installed in the Baxter Auditorium.
How long will this work take?
This work is scheduled to begin on October 13 and will take approximately 2 – 3 months to complete. The final phase of this most recent renovation project is the replacement of the carpet in the Baxter Auditorium which will take place in January 2026. All work is scheduled to be complete by the end of that month.
Will the Library have to close?
At this point, we do not anticipate that there will be any closure of the entire Library. However, there will be points throughout the process when access to the building and Baxter Auditorium through the east entrance will be prohibited. During that time, access to the building will be through the Lincoln Avenue entrance.
Will parking be impacted?
We will lose a couple of parking spaces directly to the north of the Library building for placement of a dumpster which will be used during the project. All other parking will remain open.
Will any events or other services be affected?
As mentioned, access into/out of the building through the east entrance will be limited periodically, however, we do not anticipate any other changes to the events and services that we offer to our patrons. If any event locations must change, you will be notified, and we will make every effort to minimize disruptions to services and programs. Due to the nature of the work being performed, there will be additional noise, particularly while the current carpet tiles and mastic are removed.
Updates and questions?
Once the work begins we will provide regular updates via the Library website, our weekly e-newsletter, and our social media channels.
